from Judy's mom
Judy and Steve’s insurance company delivered a larger trailer last Saturday.  They moved the deer lease trailer and are now settled in the larger one.  It is longer and has slide-out areas which makes it wider giving them much more space.  It has a queen-size bed, a sofa and a small washer and dryer.  They now have a telephone with message answering in the trailer so they can receive telephone calls.  They have met with an architect and scheduled a meeting for Saturday, March 21st to discuss building plans for the new house.  Things are progressing slowly.  April 2nd the first foal is due to arrive and shortly after the other two should arrive.  That’s always an exciting time.

“We are supposed to get our ‘new house’ delivered sometime on Saturday.  It is a little bit longer than the trailer we’re in right now, and it has a couple of slide-out areas which will make it wider.  It will have a Queen-size bed, fold-out couch, and I’m not sure what else.  We plan on putting it right where the other trailer is now, so Steve will need to get it that one moved Saturday morning.”

Steve plans to connect it to the sewer line and get the water and electricity up and running ASAP.   It will give them more room.  They have been doing okay in the smaller one but knew it would just be for a short time.

Steve took his computer into be checked and was told that it probably would be fine after they cleaned it up.  That is really good news as they have so many photos on it.  They will have access to the website but only dial up connection so don’t forward things until they give you the okay.

Again, thanks to everyone for all the hard work and wonderful donations.  It is all greatly appreciated.

Judy's mom visited the farm today and had this update on how things are progressing.

" I went to Thorndale today to see Judy ride and to visit with them.  They are still trying to sort through the ashes and find things.  They found a vase and Judy’s favorite iron skillet this past week.  They will not get the house leveled until they have a chance to look through it more thoroughly.
Steve now has his cell phone up and running and it is the same number he had before.  Judy also now has her cell phone and it has her same number.  They are going to get a message answering machine, hopefully sometime this next week, and place in the garage.  That way they will be able to return some calls.  Both have been very, very busy at work.
Steve is still looking at purchasing a place for them to live and it looks like it will be a mobile home.  They hope to have one within the next two weeks.  There is just so much to be done and it all takes so very much time.
They were in good spirits today.  Everything is going as smooth as can be under the circumstances.  They just have to take one day at a time and they are doing very well with it.
I’ll still be sending out updates from time to time until they have a chance to get a new computer.  They want to see if they can save the hard drive of the other one but Steve needs to take it in and he is just pulled in a lot of different directions with so many things to do.  It will all get taken care of in time."

Friday there was a fire in the house. It consumed the entire house and it's contents. Judy and Steve were at home when it happened, just outside, so when they noticed the smoke and flames it was already late to be able to stop it. The wind was high and the volunteer fire fighters stayed all night tending the fire. They were able to get all but one dog out of the house. They lost their cell phones so also lost most everyone's phone numbers. They do have a phone rigged up in the garage now but must be around the garage to answer it. Keep them in your prayers as they work through this.

  • The puppies are at five (5) weeks old.  Everyone is growing like weeds.  They are completely weaned now.  They are eating softened puppy food, with goats milk, baby cereal and yogurt.  We have had to add a second feeding dish because they are eating more each day.  They have also started drinking water.  This is good and bad.  Good, because they need the water for their systems.  Bad, because it runs through their systems and on to the blankets in the ex-pens.  Teeth are really starting to come in now, so there is lots of chewing on the toys, each other and Judy and I.  They are playing and fighting with each other more and more. We still have one girl available and possibly one sable boy.

  • On Sunday, September 14th Breena presented us a HUGE litter of eleven Irish Wolfhound puppies, sired by our very own Bounder.  Mom and all the puppies are doing great.  Steve and Judy are exhausted by the round the clock maintenance of a litter this big, but they are worth it!

  • On Friday, September 1st, Steve surprised Judy with a beautiful red brindle puppy from Irish Wolfhound breeder Penny Malone in New York, born May 22nd.  The surprise was total as Judy did not have any idea this was happening.  Mom & Dad went to Watertown, New York to pick her up, making the same 3500 mile trip they made a year and a half ago to pick up Bounder.  Judy has named the new girl Wolftrak's Que Belle (Belle)

  • Tetra had a filly by Platinum vom Rappenhofon April 13th. Tetra suprised us by having Penny out in the paddock about 11:00 AM. We walked out of the barn and saw her being delivered. Steve ran for blankets to put the filly on for imprinting and once she was up and ready we got them into the stall. Penny had a bit of a rough start, developing diarrhea and having to go to the vet for fluids and antibiotics but is back on track now and gaining weight.

  • Cory is growing well and turning into a really nice colt. He had to spend the night with the vet due to colic like symptoms but is fine now.

  • Spring is here and the foals are arriving. This is Carma's new colt by Feingeist born April 8th. This was just before he stood up. More photos coming soon.

  • January 26, 2008-We attended the Central Texas Dressage Society Awards Banquet at the Cool River Café.  Judy and Charley’s Angel were declared Champions at Training Level-Amateur.  Copernica was awarded Champion Weanling Filly in the Sporthorse Breeding Division.  Early in the year we had decided to let Tess Wheat ride Kaylee in the in CTDS shows.  Tess and Kaylee were awarded Champion Intro Level-Open!

  • January 5 & 6, 2008-Saturday and Sunday at the Nolan River Dog Show in Glen Rose, Texas we entered both Bounder and Breena.   On Saturday, Bounder won his class and then took Winner’s Dog, receiving two (2) points.  It should have been a major, but one dog did not show up.  Breena was not placed in her class of nine girls.  We also tried Lure Coursing on Saturday afternoon.  Bounder did OK, but Breena will be a star!  She took out like a rocket, but lost track of the lure in the tall grass.  She will get the hang of it next time.  On Sunday, Bounder was slightly off, probably to the lure coursing attempt.  Breena took Reserve Winner’s Bitch out of eleven girls.  We are proud of both of them and their efforts for the weekend.

  • December 25, 2007-Judy’s mom, LaWana, gave us an incredible gift for Christmas.  She gave us three doses of Kostolany semen for our breeding program.  Now we have to decide which of the mares we will breed.  Hopefully they will take on the first try and we can get three Kostolany babies from this!

  • November 8 & 9, 2007-We were supposed to be at the American Trakehner Association Convention November 7-11 but Steve was in the hospital in Houston, so our presence was curtailed.  Steve convinced Judy to take Angel and Carma to the convention on Thursday for their OSB inspection.  They were both approved for the OSB and they all returned home on Friday.  Our dear friend Tess Wheat went with Judy to take over my duties as general gopher.  Her labors are very much appreciated.

  • November 8, 2007-Steve was released by the doctors at Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX.  He was brought home by Solo’s new mom, Bennie Johnston.  LaWana, Judy’s mom, babysat Steve until Judy’s return.

  • October 29, 2007-Solo (Wolftrak’s Flying Solo) has gone to his new home with our dear friend Bennie Johnston.  He will be totally spoiled, as any Irish Wolfhound should be.  If Bennie had not taken him, Steve had already decided to keep him.

  • October 20, 2007-Judy and Bounder went to the Fun-Tier Kennel Club Dog Show in Belton, TX.  Bounder won his class and was Winner’s Dog!  Judy brought the ribbons to the hospital as Steve was still in at that time.

  • September 22 & 23, 2007-Copernica to Proud Meadows Breed Shows.  She received a 71.9% on Saturday and a 70% on Sunday.

  • September 10, 2007 to November 8, 2007-Steve is admitted to Seton Hospital in Austin two times for a total of 15 days and then in Methodist Hospital in Houston for 18 days with a high fever, cough and muscle pain.  They never came up with a diagnosis.  After all this time the doctors have determined that Steve is in PERFECT health!  Many thanks to Steve’s parents, Lee & Pat for all their support while he was in the hospital.  Pat stayed during the week days with Steve and then Judy stayed on the week-ends.  Lee ran errands, picked up results, shuttles Pat and Judy to and from the hospital and helped around the farm the entire time.

  • August 31, 2007-Breena had a litter of ONE boy, sired by our own AKC Wolftrak’s Quicksilver.  He weighed 1 ¼ pounds and has LOTS of attitude.  Judy wants to call him Solo.

  • Brenna is expecting puppies Labor Day weekend. Check back for puppy photos.
  • Saturday, July 21st we attended the Houston Dog Show at Reliant Center.  This was Bounders first show.  He was entered in the 6-9 mos puppy class.  Not only did he win his class, he also took Winners Dog and Best of Breed Puppy!  Kiri and Breena took Second in their respective classes, 12-18 mos and Open.
  • Nica went to her first show 6/9/07. The alarm went off at 2:30 am this morning.  Judy was up and out to the barn to braid both Carma and Nica for the show.  We rolled out of here at 4:00 am and after a 165 mile drive, arrived at Proud Meadows at 7:00 am.  Nica was the second competitor in the ring for the Class of Fillies of 2007.  I was following with Carma so neither one would get worried.  Nica did very well.  She was well behaved and gave nice walk and trot.  At the end of the class she had a 76%, good enough for First Place!  This is actually 8/10's of a point better than her dad's first outing.  We waited around for about an hour and a half before the Championship class was called.  That is the first and second place out of all the classes.  Fillies of 2007, 2006, 2005 & 2004.  So they were in the ring with seven other horses.  Unfortunately, she did not place in the top three of all those horses.  The two three year old fillies took Champion and Reserve Champion.

  • Carma foaled at 1:00 P.M. Thursday March 22nd. We have a bouncing baby girl by Nicky. She is a large bay filly with a white stripe down her face. Barn name Nica and full name Copernica.

  • The new puppy is fitting in well. His farm name is Bounder, registered name BaileySong Wolftrak Spellbound.

  • The new puppy will be picked up tomorrow, 2/19/07, by Steve's parents. Everyone is very excited!
Here he is at 9 weeks.

  • Both Judy and Steve are awaiting the birth of their Copernicus foal later this month out of Carmacheon. This will be this mares second foal and first with Judy and Steve.
  • Steve has a new puppy on the way from Canada. A solid black male. He should be very striking.
  • The last surgery has been competed. It was a 10 hour operation and Judy is ready to get on with her life. The doctors have not given her the go ahead to do anything with the horses so she is not happy but is following their orders of not picking up anything that weighs more than 2 pounds and no riding. Steve is in charge of barn duties, with Judy monitoring, and work which has him very busy.
  • Judy's next and hopefully last surgery is scheduled for January 15, 2007. Keep her in your prayers.
  • The first mare bred to Copernicus has been confirmed in foal. Our two mares will be checked this week.
  • Steve leaves this weekend to pick up a new female puppy in MO. Judy will stay at home and play with the new foal.
  • The clinic was great with Maren and all that attened had fun.
  • Nicky is doing well undersaddle. Judy plans on riding him at a clinic with Maren Engelhardt that will be held in Bourne, TX in March.
  • Judy had some of her dental work done the latter part of January. She is feeling a bit better this week pain wise. The doctors will be monitoring the bones to make sure they heal properly. The plastic surgery is to start in June.
